Motorcade arrived at the Embassy Suites Greenville Golf Resort at 1757 after a short drive. The route started out on the closed-off N-bound lanes of I-85, then along some roads on the outskirts of Greenville.
There were occasional groups of spectators photographing or videoing the motorcade with their phones. One man waved a US flag.
Pool is currently holding in the press vans.
Some details on the event from reporter Kirk Brown of the Greenville News:
"People attending fundraiser began to line up more than two hours before the event. Venue can hold 1200. Not sure if it will be full. Tickets cost $250 a piece but a good number were given out to legislators and other dignitaries for free.
There will be a VIP reception before main event.
Lots of security, as would be expected.
Greenville County Sheriff's Office helicopter circling overhead."
