After an uneventful but traffic-dodging drive, President Trump arrived back at the White House at 3:40 p.m. Your pooler saw POTUS enter the Residence at 3:42 p.m., giving a quick wave to someone who was blocked by the SUVs from our vantage point.
Motorcade took the same route in reverse, Lowes Island Blvd. to Fairfax County Parkway to Dulles Toll Road to I-66. On every Washingtonians favorite Interstate, the motorcade has to maneuver through the usual clog of traffic at Exit 69 (Washington Blvd. and Lee Highway), as drivers did their best to move their vehicles out of the way. Mortorcade snakes through traffic on a crowded Theodore Roosevelt Bridge as we entered the District of Columbia.
All roads were open to civilian traffic, and POTUSs motorcade honored some - but not all - traffic lights between Sterling and the Toll Road entrance. A U.S. Park Police vehicle, after several tries, coaxed a grey sedan to slow down by pulling in front and reducing speed. POTUS is slated to depart the executive mansion via Marine One at 4:20 p.m., en route to the rally in Michigan.
Your in-town pooler will now hand off in-town duties to his talented and kind Roll Call colleague, Lindsey McPherson, who is pitching the late innings so this signing-off pooler can attend the WHCAs annual gala celebrating the First Amendment and the free press. All yours, teammate.
