*Subject:* *[EXTERNAL] In town pool #8 USSS facility: Reagan and Clinton era vehicles, driving demonstrations*

We arrived at what is called the Moran Vehicle Training facility at 2:22 pm after a brief ride.
On the way, we passed what appeared to be a full sized mock-up of the front of an airplane painted to look like Air Force One and the other aircrafts for VIPs flown by the 89th Airlift Wing presumably some sort of model made for training purposes.
The vehicle facility contains a large paved surface parking lot with cones set up presumably for vehicle training of some sort.
Pool is standing next two two vehicles: One is a 1993 Cadillac limousine with a DC license plate 800 002, the other is a 1983 Cadillac convertible, DC plate 145 403. Both are black. The convertibles roof is down.
The USSS official (we have requested his name, TK) who is conducting the tour for POTUS told the pool that the limousine was used by President Clinton. The convertible is a car used to trail the presidential limousine and was used during Reagans presidency. Both are antiques kept by the USSS they are not used for training purposes.
Pool was told some history on the convertible. The car was in Augusta, Ga. on October 22, 1983 when Reagan was on the golf course when an armed man crashed through the gate of the golf course and demanded to speak with Reagan. President Reagan was evacuated from the course in the Cadillac convertible.
Here is the NYT story on the incident:>http://www.nytimes.com/1983/10/23/us/reagan-unhurt-as-armed-man-takes-hostages.html<
The USSS official showed your contemporary WH press pool this photo that our pool colleagues took of the incident involving the car in 1983:>https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4Mj104Y5g3ySHBnUkdCSlJvY3c<
(A reminder of the importance of the protective pool.)
As we were waiting, we got a glimpse of the Marine One landing zone, which is about a quarter mile away from the vehicle training facility, up on a hill.
POTUS arrived by motorcade at 3:30 pm. POTUS and FLOTUS stepped out of the motorcade, greeted by the same USSS official who gave us the background on the cars. They talked, pool not able to hear. After a few moments, a second USSS official appeared to be explaining the history of the cars.
POTUS moved away from the antique cars at 3:42, facing the parking lot with the cones set up. Two Dodge Chargers containing Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, FLOTUS comms dir. Stephanie Grisham, assistant to the chief of staff Zach Fuentes and social media guru Dan Scavino in the passenger seats then sped off onto the course to perform a driving demonstration on the course.
A second driving demonstration was underway as pool was ushered out at 3:47 pm.
