Quotes from attendees at Trump rally in Washington Township, Michigan:
Vicki Lewis, a painter and retired art teacher, came to the rally from Westland, Michigan, an hour and a half away. Why did she travel so far? "Because we love Trump," said Ms. Lewis, wearing the Donald Trump 45 button she just bought.
Ms. Lewis said she had emergency surgery on Tuesday, but came anyway. "Nothing could keep me away." She also said she knew folks who came to the rally from Cadillac, Michigan, up north, 3 hours away.
....
Jason Kern, wearing a red MAGA hat and an earring, came to the rally from Sterling Heights, 10 miles south of here. He said he's a Republican precinct delegate and was active in the Ron Paul movement. Asked if he's concerned about the midterms, he said, "That's a possibility. Cycles go up and down." Kern is a DJ who went back to school to become a machinist.
...
Paul Allen, 19, wasnt old enough to cast his vote for Trump in 2016 but plans to do so in 2020. Allen, who nodded and smiled as Trumps winding speech ended, said hell be graduating high school soon and plans to work in a trade though he isnt sure which one.
I like that hes bringing jobs back to Michigan, said Allen, who came with his father and little sister. I like it all.
He said that most media is biased, and that he gets his news on YouTube and InfoWars.
I liked that he was here with us instead of at that dinner, he said.
(Thank you to Rachel Chason of the Washington Post for the last interview!)
