Potus departed the Capitol at 6:43 pm.
Arrived Trump International Hotel at 6:47.
Quick remarks to pool at Capitol from POTUS: "These are laws that have been broken for many years--decades. We had a great meeting."
House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul stopped by before POTUS. "Excellent meeting," McCaul said. Said Trump embraced the bill he and Goodlatte are pushing. "The president is a thousand percent behind it." What about family separation? "They will not be separated if the bill passes." Wall funding? The bill includes $25b, of which $18b is for the wall. "He said this is an opportunity for us to be compassionate" while also taking care of security, McCaul said.
White House pool remained at Father Damien, with congressional press corps to the left under the gaze of Vermont statue Jacob Collamer.
